Moon Phases - do you use them?

Does anyone hunt using the moon phases? I was trying to find somewhere online to download something for my trip tomorrow and can not find anything. I am wasting my time or does it really work?

No. Put it this way, if I can get out of the house to hunt, I will no matter what the moon is doing.

I hunt when I can no matter the moon phase. But I do use it when planning vacation to go hunt. I try not to take vacation during a full moon if I can avoid it.

If you are using moon phase pay attention to moon transit. That's basically when the moon is directly above. There's a 2nd time when it's directly on the opposite side of the earth (12 1/2 hours later). If you can get moon transit at dawn or dusk then the conditions are prime at that time for animal movement/feeding.

I find the best time to go is the week leading into the new moon. During those weeks the moon is rising in the middle of the night and moon transit usually occurs around dawn. Since it's dark for most of the night, they usually move well into the morning hours. For example Dec 2-9th would be when I would take vacation if I had to choose ahead of time. Dec 9-16th wouldn't be a bad time to be in the woods either.

Full moon means hog hunting at night!!!!!

The theory I've heard is that during full moon animals will move and feed more during the nights and not show during the day, therefore, you don't want to leave corn on the ground that deer can eat during the night and then just bed all day,

The true is that last weekend was the openner down here in Mexico and we had TONS of deer everywhere with full moon and all.

I really don't know how accurate it is, but I have had some success using the moon phase information. However I will hunt any time of the day that I am able to get off. Any time in the woods is better than time at work.

I believe the moon phases have an impact on daytime deer activity. When the rut's on though, all bets are off.
