My wife and 399,998 of our closest friends rode down to Galveston Saturday for the 10th annual Lone Star Rally. The weather was nearly perfect for riding and, for the most part, everyone there pretty much behaved themselves. Parking was a nightmare...they were charging $10/bike to park on the Strand. Once we passed (18th street I think) there was no available parking. Every possible inch was already taken and bikes were 2 and 3 deep. No way those that arrived first, and parked tail-in to the curb were leaving until those who arrived later than them moved their bikes. About halfway down the strand traffic came to a stop. It crawled to the end where we were finally to circle back and get in line again. We eventually found decent parking and wandered around the vendors. Found some decent stuff, most of it was the same junk you see at every rallly.
Had lunch at Fisherman's Wharf, expensive but excellent. Great ride back, lighter traffic than I would have expected. Great trip overall, sad to hear so many had wrecked and died. Prayers to their families.
