    Where can I find $10 - 20K?

We've been working so hard and doing so well, but now it just feels like we've kind of hit a wall. In less than 3 years we've paid off right at $75k in debt. Over $60k of that was from lots of hard work, budgeting, scrimping, and lots and lots of delayed pleasures. The rest came from the recent sale of our house.

All we have left is $25k on my student loan. We would really like to pay that off in a year. The projected budget only shows that we'll only be able to pay off about $5k by May. (Our income dropped significantly last year when my wife became a stay at home mom.)

Football season is over tonight, so I'm trying to think of things I can do after hours and on weekends to try to pick up the pace. When we lived in the hill country I was able to do a lot of guided hunts, but those opportunities seem pretty rare in Austin. We've also tried to think of things my wife can do from home, but with a 3 yr old and 18 mo old and no child care available we haven't thought of anything.

So does anyone have any ideas of things we could do? What have other people done to increase the size of their shovel? We want out of this hole so bad!

By the way, my wife has already ruled out prostitution, so only realistic suggestions, please.

Congratulations to you and your wife getting a firm grip on your finances.

Sounds like your wife is being selfish

If your handy doing home repairs you could do small jobs for folks in the community. Kinda like "Husband for Hire"

sounds like you are a coach so maybe personal training at a gym possibly. There are some that are open 24hrs so maybe work the night shift?

put her to work after hours until the debt is paid off, or get a second job yourself if thats not an option.

My wife and I make that currently with our Amway business on the side. We're working on a project right now to take that income to 60-80K. I just heard the other day how heavily the expansion is around Austin right now. PM me your phone number and we can talk.

One of the TX Highway Patrolmen in the area where we hunt, started filling and fixing feeders / checking game cameras for our hunters. He charges each hunter per trip plus the cost of the corn or protein. I think he has more than 10 hunters using him this year, and it's a few hundred dollars in his pocket each time he makes the trip. It is worth it for hunters that are far away from their leases, especially when considering gas prices.

                What do you drive?

Might be able to downsize temporarily.

(That's what DR and (MikeD) would ask.)

knowng what day cares charge these days, might be an option for your wife to keep one or two kiddos during the day (if she's able to handle that increased load cause going from 2 to 4 kids on the house can get crazy!)

Congratulations on your hard work! keep it up.

I'd also offer that yardwork and handy man stuff is out there. I can't beg someone to let me pay them to fix my fence.

also not to get preachy but do you tithe?

I know how does giving 10% to my church

                            Malachi 3:10

Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do," says the LORD of Heaven's Armies, "I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won't have enough room to take it in! Try it! Put me to the test!

God offers few promises but "put me to the test" is a promise I like to keep myself open to.

If you have access to a trailer you can prune trees in the winter and/or cleanup lawns. Christmas lights are another good idea, but you'll need to start on that rightaway.
