    Any CWI's on the gs?

I am at real education in houston about to start the 10 day CWI class leading up to my test the 19th of this month. This is a ton of information to soak in in 10 days and to say im nervous is an understatement. If any of you have tips/suggestions that may help me PLEASE feel free to post em up or pm me. And if ya'll gotta little extra time throw a prayer up for me! Thanks

I don't always kill animals with my assassin, but when I do I use BLOODRUNNERS!

Study your code book and take any practice tests at night. The practice tests will be a gauge of where you are at each night and give you an idea of what you need to work on.
Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea to hammer down on the definitions and welding symbols.

    Good Luck!

      Solid advice right here ^^^

Also study the welding processes and your WIT book is your "bible". Everything you're studying comes from the WIT book.

When I took mine, our instructor made the practice tests more difficult than the actual test. He neglected to tell us this of course until after he graded the practice tests.

What code are you taking? Most of what goes on revolves around AWS D1.1. If that's not the code you're taking, see if you can get your hands on one of them. It'll be VERY beneficial to you in the long run.

I took my code in API 1104. Give me a shout if you need any help.

p.s. Don't over-study and STAY OUT OF THE BARS!!!

Good luck brother, I will say a prayer for you. It will be something to be proud of when you pass it. I was on my way to taking the test when they shut down where I was working. You will do fine, the advise I see above is the same that I was given. Everyone I have known that didn't pass, where the ones staying in bars all night. Sounds like you have a handle on it. Prayers sent!

Keep in mind that on the specific portion of the test (your code), they will be asking you questions from ANYWHERE in the code book. It could be in the table of contents or the forward, as well as in the appendix or the index.

During practical exam (hands-on), you will use THEIR code. Not API-1104, Not AWS D1.1, Not ANSI B31.1, THEIR CODE! They will give you a code book to go by, tells you what is and is not allowed for the welding samples they give you. Like my instructor told us, "take your 1104 hats OFF". Don't even think of 1104, GO BY THEIR CODE! In a nutshell, a CWI certification says "that person knows how to read any code book".

Don't stress out over it. You'll know some of it, and not know other parts of it. If you're down there alone, find someone or a couple of people you can study with. Don't get into a BIG study group. Keep it at 4 or less. I'm going to shoot you a PM w/ my number. I'll try to help you out the best I can, It's been 11 years since I took mine...

                          Justin,

don't "read" the code book. Scan over it and know where different things are listed in there... try to "understand" it.

Remember, the specific portion of the test is open book...
