I'm shooting a custom made CZ-550. It's got a Nikon on top now but I'll be swapping it out with the Trijicon 5-20X50 that's on top of my AR.

I don't know what is custom about Tubby's rifle but the plain old CZ 550 American right off the shelf is a heck of a good shooter. I also like his choice of glass. I put the same scope on my daughters 243 and I fell in love with that scope...

i shoot the same, only 4x12x40 nikon monarch, the gun can shoot better than i can at longer ranges, shooting one ragged hole at 100, and 3/4 inch at 200, thats with me pulling just a bit

I really like my Savage 14 American Classic stainless in .308. I dont think I would go with a scope that is higher then 15 power. Try a 3-9, 4-12, or 4.5-15. Sometimes when you go with real high power scopes they come with varmint reticles and they are very hard to see in lowlight conditions compared to a regular duplex reticle.

Have a couple Tc pro hunters and was thinking of just getting a 308 barrel but I kinda got an itch that needs scratchin! But who knows......... I do like me some pro hunter!

Take a look at the Marlin XL 7. They shoot 3/4 inch groups out of the box. You can pick one up for under $300. That would give you a lot more to drop on optics.
