    Peeves and Quirks

Time is getting short and my mind is straying more and more from the things I should be doing.
So, what are some things you do as part of your hunting routine that others think you are crazy to do?
Myself, I pull the ATV right up under my stand when gun hunting. Also, believe taking a leak from the tree stand doesn't hurt anything.
My boss and another hunting buddy will call to have someone drive up into their hunting set up to run deer off from the feeder rather than give their location away.
Same buddy turns his flash cameras off once season opens so the flash doesn't run off the bucks.

Only thing I do is pray before my brother and I go out that we both stay safe, no injuries and enjoy Gods artwork. That's the only regular thing I do.

You'd be surprised how well it attracts deer! Doh! Thermacell thinks they have something new in heated scent wafers, pee on the hot exhaust saves lots of money! :-)

Same routine every hunt. I go back and forth second guessing myself on where I should hunt. "I really like that 10 that's been coming into Bow Blind. But he hasn't been showing up lately so maybe I should go to Bow 2. But what if I go to Bow2 and he comes to Bow 1 tonight?" "Should I hunt the tripod or ground blind? My scent is better contained in the ground blind. But they can hear me better. There's a better chance I'll be spotted in the tripod". Usually make my decision while I am walking out. Then as I sit in my blind I can't help but wonder what is going on at the other stand! Oh well, been doing this for years and I have accepted that I will never change.

Our only real other tradition is when we drive out one person will say "Blood makes the grass grow!" and the other is expected to respond with "Kill! Kill! Kill!" Our way of saying Good Luck!

I pull up to the trail in, walk in quietly, hit the test button on the feeder to spray a little extra corn, get in the stand, pray a bit, fire up the thermacell, and sit.

Not too odd in my opinion but I don't go anywhere near my feeder before I hunt. Not to check trailcam, not to see if the feeder's working, not for ANY reason. I just don't see any reason to sneak in and then put scent of any kind where you are trying to attract game.

for me, depends. [not the underware type] i will go out with the crew if thats what they want at 5:00 am. my blind floor is clean, so i nap till the feeder goes off at 8:20 or so. and when not much it my like department shows up. on comes the am-fm radio. try to whip out the glasses i keep on a lanard around my neck. open up the book i found. read a page or two, then have a peek at whats still not hitting the feeder. repete till oh, 10:30 then i cook lunch of the group. while i say "there were just too many to get a clean shot."
