Silly question I know for someone who hunts as much as I do, but I've always wondered. Ok, I've read the TPWD outdoor annual and wanted to get your thoughts. Normal procedure for us is to quarter the deer and cut off head with tag attached to the head (either to the antlers or if doe, the ear) with a twist tie. I know the tag must be attached to the carcass but I've never figured a good way to do so. How do you do it? Won't the ink on the tag run in all the ice? Where & how do you attach so it will be secure in the icechest?

I use whatever is handy to tie it to either the antlers or ear.
