    Eating Aoudad

I have heard lots of people say Aoudad is horrible to eat. But had to try it myself. Shot a ewe ground the meat up into hamburger and mixed it 40% pork. Its real lean otherwise. Last night I finally had the chance to cook it. I made hamburger steaks and they were GREAT! I dont think I would eat a ram but some more ewe and kids are gonna bleed. Hope this helps some of you who are sitting on the fence about shooting and eating Aoudad.

I had the same experience. As long as it is ground up and not an old ram the flavor is good. I put it through the grinder twice and it is good. made summer sausage out of one and it was great.

I think that is the best advice. TRY IT. I shot a ram last year and ground it up into hamburger and sausage. Pretty dang good. I think as long as you dont say anything people are pretty clueless. I did that with a bull moose I shot one time. People at the function were raving about how good it was. That moose was by far the most tender, most flavorful meat I have ever eaten, close second to the Mountain Lion I had one time at a hunters banquet. Thats the thing about wild game is the flavor...its hard to get that flavor at HEB. Good stuff!!

Have a ram processed into summer sausage, backstrap into jerky, and also some sticks.

No problems eatting it, however I can tell the difference.

The evening the ram was shot, we grilled the tenders, more less smoked them. Lots of beer, the beer was the good part.
