Man I stunk with a 20! I killed birds but seemed like my dog was starting to develope gills from having to dive for all the wounded ones! I did much better once I changed to 12ga. I will be the first to say ducks give me a lot more trouble to shoot than dove or quail which I still use 20 for.

Gun will kill ducks if you can shoot

20 gauge steel is cheaper than 12 gauge of similar length and compatible loads......

Sippy I am pretty sure you have asked this question on this forum already if my memory serves me correctly and I'll tell you again that the 20 gauge is fine. I have been shooting a Benelli M1 20 since 2005 for ducks and had great success with it. My SBE has been a safe queen since.

Get you some 3" #3's or #4s and shoot them over decoys. Pass shooting with a 20 or 12 is not how it is done anyway and is for those that can't decoy birds.

Even whacked a large local Canada with mine...

I've hunted ducks nearly exclusively with a 20 gauge for 15 years. I have 12 gauges that never leave the safe. Anybody that says you can't duck hunt with a 20 gauge is either closed minded or mis-informed. And like Low Fence says, the whole barrel length argument is a myth. It makes very little difference in the scheme of things. My favorite duck gun is a little BPS 20 gauge with a 21 inch barrel. Does just fine and kills em dead. A lot of folks would also say you need a 7mag to deer hunt! But a 243 works just fine. Its all relative.

20 gauge 3 inch has the same number of pellets as 12 gauge 2 3/4. Choose shells with high velocity to help get you on target easier. I recommend Winchester 1550 fps in a no 2. When you get a few under your belt and feel like moving up, pm me and come up to he panhandle. 20 gauges work for geese too.

I began duck huntin over decoys with a 16 ga...then I moved to a 28 ga.... the ducks didn't know the difference....they died just as quick....just let them drop their legs and cup their wings....and give up on those hi flying pass shots...

My 8 year old son shot his limit saturday morning with a single shot 410. If he had a 20 gauge he would have just done it quicker.

Your gun will work great, the main advantage to a 12 like stated above is shell availability and for me everyone I hunt with shoots a 12, so if someones in a pinch we can all use the same ammo.

Bring em' in close and SHOOT EM' IN THE FACE!!! they wont know if it was a 12 or a 20
x2 your 20g is just fine

Shoot lessers with em most years. Get em in right and the 20 is more than enough gun. Pass shots in heavy wind I'd rather the 12 but 9 days out of 10 the 20ga is plenty. Doubled on greaters one morning...

This right here. You'll be fine with a 20

A good aftermarket choke will improve that gun alot.

Check out Trulock's precision hunter chokes. They are extended chokes so you'll get a little benefit there and they throw nice even patterns.

Do yourself a favor and shoot the gun at a big piece of posterboard about 35 yards away. See how even and large the pattern is.

I use a 12 ga. Benelli super nova 3-1/2" with a 28" barrel. This brings them down.
Good luck finding shells for a 20 though!
