    Need some advise

I stuck the first pig I've ever had in bow range at our lease the other day. The group (probably 40 counting the piglets) came in about an hour before dark, made a perfect shot, the 160 pound boar piled up within 75 yards. Since then (two weeks ago) I have not seen them out before dark, which brings me to my first question.... Did these pigs just come out in the open (i have a feeder set up on the side of a 1 acre food plot) during the day out of routine? I've always heard they were dawn, dusk, dark creatures. Any way, I've hunted probably about 8 times in the past two weeks and haven't seen them again, is it pressure from my shooting the other night?, their tracks are everywhere and I poured 40 lbs of corn in one spot the other day and the next day under my feeder it looked like the surface of the moon.

My second question is this. I wanna put lights on the feeder to light up under it. I work at Lowe's and we carry these home solar lights that put out 7.5 lumens. Say I put three of those on my feeder shining down with red lenses on them. Will this be enough light? I shoot my bow at night a lot (i get off work late) and usually the target is illuminated fine so there's no problem seeing through the peep because my sights are lit by a small LED on my bow, so that's not a problem. I just don't wanna spend an arm and a leg on huge solar lights trying to hunt these jokers at night. Thanks in advance for your advice. We've been on this lease 15-20 years and this is the first time we've ever dealt with pigs.

Pigs are smart, they probably stopped showing up after you shooting their buddy. The lights should work fine, just give a little while to get used to them. Practice shooting at night some before setting on the stand...

Oh ya, good job on your bow kill boar!!!

Thanks for the job well done. I practice at night all the time, shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the info.

Might want to be cautious doing that in deer season. Could be awkward convincing game warden you were hog hunting not deer hunting.

The lights will work fine. What would work better is a Mini Sniper light for your bow. Red lens.

There's no law saying that you can't have your feeder lit up, just as there is no law saying you can't spotlight on your own property. You just can't shoot game animals under artificial light. Bottom line, you can have them, just don't shoot deer at night.

Don't wanna spend a lot of money for some fancy gizmo though. Thought about this.

Well then do the lights but try 4 or 5 (trust me, I've done this) and you will need lighted sights at the very least.

Hunting hogs at nite is perfectly legal.

I have lighted sights. Thank you for the info. Maybe at some point I can snatch up one of those souped up hot rod lights like you're talking about. If nothing else, the small solar lights will make the pigs used to getting lit up, correct?

Those lights are so anemic if you put any kind of lens on them you won't be ale to see anything.

Mike has a point. However, the higher lumen lite you speak of should be good. I do recommend the spot lite type instead of just the broadcast type. Anyway, the more the merrier!

and yes, get em used to the lites.

I'm sorry, I shouldve made myself more clear. These are small spot lights. 7.5 lumens. I wanna use 3 or 4

Use the lights from Home Depot as is. Don't add a color to the lens...
The hogs will get use to the lights and feed under them.

I hung one of the HD solar lights on a feeder and dug a hole where the spot of light hit the ground, poured corn with strawberry jello (powder) mixed with it and place a big rock on top of the corn. The hogs didn't pay any attention to the light
