    changing a deer's clock

Our new place has nocturnal deer and I won't have my feeder here for another two weeks. Is there something I can do to make the deer come out during legal shooting hours without the feeder? I've hand thrown corn and it sits all day long and even into dusk. Come morning when I take kids to school all gone.

Maybe put some apples out or a jar of peanut butter. It may work to bring them in quicker since it has a sweet and stronger odor than corn. Good luck.

apple scented corn thrown once a day for about 2-3 seconds at 6:45am. If they want to eat it they need to come early!

Although could take a while before they figure that out. Right now they may have acorns and the new undergrowth from the recent rains so corn won't attract them right now.

This cold front should help too. They probably have been nocturnal to conserve energy in the heat.

Put the corn out in a container you can close during the night and open during the day. Maybe something like a protein feeder and make some caps to put on it while you are not there.

As for Apple scented corn thats what I have (by accident cause it was cheaper than normal) and worried that may have been it. Glad to know that it isn't a deterent. I'll start with container in the AM.
