The Quest for My Largest Buck...

I am in the process of seeking out my largest buck to data (I think). I have attached an aerial photo showing my plan of attack. I am open to suggestions.

    Scenario:
Large Creek running west to east. Significant rub line parallels the creek on both sides. I have multiple photos of the deer coming from the bedding area heading east along the north side of the large creek. There is an old fourwheeler path that I believe he is using that parallels the creek. The stand is about 250 yards from the bedding area. My plan of attack is to approach the stand from the east along the creek. Get in early and stay as long as I can possibly stand it. Saturday is forecasting a north wind so it will be perfect if he decides to take his normal route.

There is a large pipeline to the north that is planted in winter wheat, cereal rye, and oats. My theory is that he will parallel the creek while allowing the north wind to carry any scent of does that are present to the north.

    What say the GS?

If you sit it a couple times and don't see him I would move closer to the bedding area but be steathy in getting into the stand. There is a little clearing between the two light blue lines that could be walked through fast and quiet to a stand location. Just a thought.

That little clearing is where I was getting him on camera. I hunted in there last weekend and saw zero deer. I think I was too close to the bedding area. This buck was moving around in the daylight both morning and evening. I know the ruts starting to get hot but this is a mature buck that has survived the east tx woods for several years. I believe that since he was out alot in the daytime means my camera was in his safe zone. The pictures I had of him earlier this week were early early morning about 5:00.

Your plan looks good with the pre-rut swinging into gear. Put a little tinks 69 out and some light grunts. Good luck.
