    First Bow Kill! Doe Down!

So I'm no longer feeling like a poser around here. Spent This past week out at the family place, doing some serious bowhunting out there for the first time in well over a decade. Missed a doe the first evening, Sunday, shooting from a pop up blind. Top limb of the bow hit the top of the blind. By the time the arrow got across the 36 yds, exactly where a sent it, she was gone. Got to watch the arrow hit the hog panel on the far end of the pen, and go flying off in a random direction. Lesson learned... Dont shoot at spooked deer.

Saw deer every hunt, but no shot opportunities. One particular spot, i was hunting because of a north wind. In three hunts, the same gimpy rio grande turkey kept walking into the thicket with me and busting me right as a deer would be about to come into my shooting lane. When I say into the thicket with me, I mean within a good ten feet of me.

Then Friday... next to last day of the trip. Sitting in a new tree stand I put up the day before, a doe came out off to the far left, came out behind me, not even 15 minutes after I climbed into the stand. Watched her for about 30 minutes grazing around back behind the pen fence, at about 25 yds. Just not quite a clear enough shot. She finally hopped into the pen, moseyed over to the feeder, realized it hadn't gone off yet, then went back to the fence. In the process I had drawn and had the pin on her. Sent the arrow on its way, and watched in slow motion as the arrow eventually disappeared into her ribs.

    Huzzah!

Note: Have LDP and pic of the setup to share. Have to resize them and I'll post them up.
