    Scope question?

I'm in the process of building my new AR10 and I have an optics question. I see alot of guy shooting scopes such as a 1-4x24 that do not have a larger objective lens. My question is what advantage do these scopes have over scopes that have a larger bell than the tube? Thanks

A 1-4x allows both accurate shooting at a distance (4x) and quick target acquisition in close quarters (1x). The Millet DMS-1 is a good choice for an all around AR10 setup and even incorporates a red dot in the reticle. However if you are setting your rifle up as more of a fixed position support fire type, a more traditional scope might be your preference.

I have a couple other 223 ARs with an eotech and an aimpoint. I was thinking I would go with traditional scope with QD and add iron sights for a short range situation. Thoughts?

I have a nikon prostaff 3-9 on my mini 14 with the see through scope rings to use iron sights on close stuff. I really like that setup. had a red dot and didn't like the fact it really couldn't shoot 100+ yrds accurate so switch to a regular hunting scope and I'm really glad I did.

didn't realize you said qd. I'd rather just look under the scope than mess with taking it off.
