iphone update problem...I think

Well, I was having hang ups on calls, random dialing, etc....but found out it was due to my Otterbox. That problem is fixed, but I felt a bit foolish for going to the Genius Bar for an Otterbox issue.

So....before I head over there again, I'm hitting up the TBH Genius Bar.

Problem:

My iOS5 update went smoothly...no lost pics, etc. EXCEPT...I have 4 email accounts. My personal account will not upload past my last email exchange on 9/23/11.

I have up to this point...

• Turned the account off/changed the password/turned on to reload...still 9/23/11
• Deleted account, turned phone off, turned on, reloaded account, still 9/23/11
• Deleted account, turned phone off, turned on, synced, reloaded account, still 9/23/11

Anything I am missing, anything else the blonde can try

what type of email setup is it, imap or pop3, etc and do you have a computer turned on pulling that same account?

Yahoo and yes on computer as well.

It has never been a problem until I updated to the new system.

yahoo is a webmail scenario so the pop3 scenario shouldn't be in play....my guess is it's an ios5 issue mated with yahoo...yahoo has little issues like this from time to time

what number of most recent emails do you have selected? try last 50, hard reset the phone and try again

My and a friends Yahoo accounts have been acting up. I can not upload picts except on my Iphone. Something is messed up...

this is why I always wait to do any type of updates like that on phones and computers as well....let everyone else guinea pig the updates first....

I didn't loose anything, just my email on phone is messed up. I still get everything on the laptop...but that doesn't help if I am traveling and only using phone

Well....at least I don't feel like a blonde. You guys don't know the solution either

Can't help you with your email issue but tell us about the Otterbox issue and how it caused the problems you had....in case we run into another blonde that is having the same kind of issues with her phone!

did you try knocking down the view most recent email settings like I posted above?

that seems to have worked for many people with this issue....go to mail, settings, look right below the email accounts....also, make sure your 'fetch new data' is set...I don't think yahoo does 'push'....

Here is how to fix the problem. Take phone in one hand and bang it on the desk a minimum of 5 times and yell dang it or your words of choice at the same time. Then throw the phone across the room. Next go pick up remainder and go back to phone store and get a new one. This won't help get your email back but will make you feel a little bit better. Outside of that I got nothing.

The last few days I have noticed I wasnt getting any new emails on my phone from my yahoo account. This morning I had 46 new emails it might just be a yahoo deal

My update stunk. Lost all my music because it put my phone in restore mode after update. This morning I got 53 emails from my yahoo account from back in march. WTH ??

LOL... cuz I love ya too...here is what happened. And it is a known problem, so if you, or someone else, experiences this, call for a replacement.

I would be talking to someone and one of a few things would happen....either I would get multiple hang ups...completing a conversation was near impossible.

OR...I would be talking and all the sudden it would start face dialing just anyone. This issue can happen when you have your face too close to the phone hitting the button.....I would not have my face on the phone!

OR...I would be talking and it would open email and be ready to send.

Crazy stuff because once I became aware of what was going on I would make sure I did not touch my face with the phone.

The little clear plastic, at top on OtterBox, (on face of phone, at sensor) had become an issue. It was tricking the sensor. When I got to the Genius Bar, he pretty much knew immediately when he looked at it. Took the case off and no problems, put it on...problems! He told me I was one of MANY with that type OtterBox case that had the sensor issue. When I called OtterBox that were full aware of it and now have the issue fixed on the models they have shipping out.

My new Otterbox should be here Monday. In the meantime, I have superglued this thing to my hand....cuz we know I have a tendency to go .... OOOPS!
