    CJ

Has any pitcher ever lost (a) the All-Star Game; (b) a Division Series game; (c) a League Championship Series game; and (d) a World Series game in the same season before?

    And in a contract year?

CJ has to be killing his market value. I don't think Nolan wants him back. I wouldn't mind him back, but not as our number 1. If we resign him, we still have to go after a legitimate ace. I'll bet Nolan/Daniels make a half-hearted attempt to get him back to appease the fanbase and run the price up a little, but ultimately, I bet he goes to LAA or NY or maybe somewhere in the NL for $70-75.

Nope, first time. What is really starting to bug me about the guy is how he never takes any responsibility for a lousy performance. Quirky dude, for sure.

If we can get him for a reasonable price i say keep him but make sure we can get a true #1 first before we dish out cash to him.

He just confirmed that he is not front line ACE material, and that the Rangers don't have that yet, and still make do. He will get 50-65 millionish after this series!

3-2 to the Cards? I thought he threw well enough to win. Carpenter is one heck of a pitcher too, and the Rangers just couldn't figure him out. Still, 3-2 in a major league game is pretty respectable.

I was pretty disappointed in his performance last night. I think he usually does a decent job, but he seemed to be having a lot of trouble keeping it out the dirt. It's not all his fault though...they should have pulled him at 80 pitches. The fatigue was really starting to show. Instead they gave him another 13 pitches and he botched it up pretty good. I'd like to see someone new next year replace him.

i say let him go. how do you pitch around Punto when you know they are pinch hitting for Carpenter. his comments after the game show me he has no guts. i am tired of his act.

I've never been a huge fan of CJ. As a pitcher I think he isn't that bad but not worth the money he is going to be asking for. I always said this series is going to go 6-7 games with the Rangers winning. We faced one of the best pitchers in the game and only lost by 1. I believe the Rangers will put up better numbers against the rest of the pitching staff for the Cardinals.

Kinda OT, but is Carpenter getting anything for his GD and S*** screaming last night?

this is the point i am making with him. you said he threw well enough. he did not dominate the game. he is a better than average pitcher. does not have good enough control. he lacks in the heart area. great athlete. just does not have the intestinal fortitude for when things get tuff and never takes responsibility. rather than going after Punto he said he was not gonna give in to him and said he was good with Ogando coming in.
