Im fairly new to the duck hunting scene and I have a question and would appreciate your input from experienced duck hunters. Do any of you duck hunt with 3.5 inch shells? Also, would 3.5 inch BB shot be good for duck, or only for goose hunting? Thank you for your advice!

I hunt with 3.5 shells, but a lot of people says 3's work just as good. If you can afford to shoot 3.5's and your gun can handle it, I say go for it. Go big or go home. I prefer to save BB shot and bigger for geese and crane. I would recommend 3's or 4's for ducks, but if all you have is BB shot it is adequate.

Ya i shoot a 3 2's and 4's max thats just bc my shoulder likes it more when im not always shooting a bigger round. plus i think a 3 1/2 is just over kill when in reality a 2 3/4 will do the job pretty much anywhere in tx that your going to hunt. But with 3in you can get a faster fps. I really like the hypersonic's i devestated the ducks last year with that round

If you're shooting a pump - stick with the 3in's your shoulder will thank you later. #3 or 4 shot are my favorites - IMO on ducks it's not the size of the pellet, but the pattern density. You could knock the crud out of ducks with #6 lead if it were legal.
If most of the geese you run into are snows, #2 shot might be a happy medium. It's plenty for decoying snows. Canadians need at least BB in most cases unless you're going with a heavier metal. Have shot some with #3 (forgot to swap with duck loads), but those were close, decoying birds.
