hog hide football?

Seems like awhile back someone posted a link to where you could send in a hog hide and they would tan it and make a football out of it. I can't find it anywhere. Am I loosing my mind or does someone remember that thread or does anyone know where you could have this done?

not sure, but modern footballs are made of cowhide, and pig skins were actually pig bladders

Yep I know. The football I remember seeing didn't look like it was for actual play. It still had the hair on it. I thought it would make a cool trophy for someone, like me, that didn't want to mounted hog or a european mount. I need to make a few phone calls and see if I can find a place that will tan a hog hide and I'll just have to make my own football.

I posted the pic on Superbowl Sunday a couple years ago. It was made by one of our hunters who killed a couple hogs here on our ranch, and then tanned the hides and made a "hair-on" football out of it. I'll see if I can find the pic and post it again. I have a diagram from a Gerber ad that has instructions how to make it, but I don't have it on my computer, just a hard copy. I'm heading out to my stand right now, but if you want to send me an e-mail, I can scan it and send you a copy of those instructions.

YEA! I knew I wasn't crazy!! No matter what my wife says. Now does anyone know where I can get a hog hide tanned? I really don't want to do that part myself.
