Still looking for a house and found one today that half of the acerage is in Corp of Engineers Flood Pool Easement and the realtor said they have certain rules on what I can and cannot do. She didn't know what the rules are. I am know about corp hunting but wondered if anyone is familar with this and if this means the corp can restrict me from hunting my own land?

The two tracts of land next to me have a sizable part of them in a CoE flood plain easement. One has sold several times. I asked the last owner why he was selling and he told me that he couldn't build any thing on that part, not even a fence. He didn't like that he was paying taxes on it and couldn't build any thing there.
Some thing else to consider is your fence line with the corp. My back fence is the corp boundary fence. It some times gets to be a pain dealing with the hunters back there. Every year I have hunters set up close to my back fence even though it is against their rules. Right now I have a feeder 55 yards from my gate and the stand is 30 yards away. It can be a pain.Last edited by Draco; 10-16-2011, 07:37 PM.

I wrote them (Corp office at Canyon Lake) 2 days ago and have been talking with them since. The restrictions are against building permanent structures. He said I could make a blind as long as it can be removed rapidly (didn't define how quick rapidly was though) and said if I build anything in that area "we will request it be ripped out at your
expense." I knew from that statement I was going to like this guy. and I'm about to create a new post about what else he said.

I should have just turned him in and let the corp take care of it Glen. I decided to try to take care of it my self and I left a note on the feeder with my name and number and told him to call me because it was too close to my house. He told me he had 350# of corn in the feeder and didn't have any way to move it with out losing all his corn. He also said he had turned in his GPS for stand location and the corp ok'ed it.
Me, being the nice guy I am(read easy, gullible or mullet into that), said he could hunt there until the feeder was empty and then he could move it. But really, who totes a huge feeder and 350# of corn close to a mile just to hunt deer? He also has a huge 2 man ladder stand that he hauled in there.
I will be talking to the Corp about it though as they OK'ed it.

I will be talking to the Corp about it though as they OK'ed it.. I would first ask for the person in charge of the hunting program (probably a ACOE Ranger). If it can't be resolved there, then ask for the project manager. If your given any static from him, call the district office in Ft. Worth at 817.886.1326 or e-mail at Public.Affairs@usace.army.mil to file a complaint. Be sure to get all names for the complaint.
