    Yeti cooler review

Well I have to say I'm not impressed. Maybe I was just expecting to much. Anyways I filled my cooler with ice at 5am Wednesday and never opened the lid and kept it in the shade until I opened the cooler Friday at 5 pm. I ha enough ice to fill 4 16oz cups the rest was cold water.

On all coolers you should open the drain plug.

A Yeti, (along with ANY cooler) needs to be cooled off before use. With hot drinks put in a hot cooler, then throwing in a couple bags of ice, just getting things down to temperature will use 20% of your ice.

I ice my coolers down the night before, then the next morning drain the water and top off with ice. I have zero problems out of mine.

The pamphlet that came with the cooler said to leave the drain closed. I will do another test with the plug out and see if it's any better.

Draining the cold water makes your remaining ice have to work even harder. It's better to leave the cold water in there unless adding more ice.

I'm sure all the yeti owners will say ''you must have got a hold of some BAD ICE''

The cooler was iced down for over 2 weeks. I get free ice from work so it should have had plenty of time to cool off. I actually kept a thermometer in there the whole time before I did the test and temp stayed at 48degrees

With the amount of ice and water in the pic, I would think there would be more in there unless the plug wasn't tight.

Still, 60 hours and still had ice in it...

                What size Yeti is it?

I don't know what to say...

I've got a 25, 50 and 120 qt Yeti coolers. Best on of mine is my 50. 25 just can't hold enough ice and the 120 holds it for the same time a Igloo can.

I iced my 50 down again yesterday at noon then threw in a few hot diet cokes. It's been in the back of my truck. Pic of ice to follow....

Probably 20 beers in the bottom and a few bottles of water then threw in the cokes...

                          still 3/4 full

I'm not sure maybe the gasket isn't sealing good on mine

I bought one for one of my hired hands. (he's really a hard worker) It is the most phenomenal thing I've ever seen for keeping ice. I want one for myself now.
