Dry firing a bow

As long as the end of the barrel isnt obstructed, why would the gun explode? The pressure is escaping, not being contained. Another way to think about the gun thing is with a firecracker. Pour gun powder on the ground and light it. it goes poof. Light the fuse on a m80 and it goes boom.

I did it once on accident and nearly took my eye out with my peep sight that came flying out. Scratched face... 1 inch higher and it would of got the eye i shoot with 0.o
