Or a plastic shopping bag filled about halfway. The deer prefer it from a Target bag, but will grudgingly accept a Walmart bag. Seriously, the Ziploc bags are quieter when you put them into your pocket, so I prefer a Ziploc when I have one handy.

This makes them work for it, and keeps them there longer. And that’s the whole point, to keep them there as long as you can.
If you just pour it out in a line, they will eat, and be gone.
As for getting your scent on the corn….it doesn’t matter one bit if you touch it with your hands…

I learned this from a guide on one of those fancy pants high fence pay-per-deer places...I use a gallon ziplock to hold the gallon or so of corn I'll throw out, and an enamel ware large mug (like 24 oz?) to scoop up the corn and throw it all out. On the last scoop, I'll swirl it around for 15 seconds or so...sounds like a feeder going off.
They seemed to like the sound on that place.
