A Week At The Ranch = Success!!!

I always like to kill my does early in the season and this year isn't any different. I hunted opening weekend seeing plenty of deer but they were all bucks. This is a pretty good problem to have but I wanted some doe meat and none of the bucks were shooters. Monday morning a big headed ol gray doe came in and gave me broadside shot. This was the 1st deer I've taken with my bow on video! She ducked and lunged forward and the shot was a grunt further back than I like. The Rage2 opened up and did it's job and she painted the ground going 100yds stone dead!

Well 1 doe down and another tag in my pocket Tuesday morning was nice and cool. This doe came in and was being a bully so when all the bucks left that decided her fate. Since the 1doe ducked so much I held right where the white and brown come together. You can probably guess what happened... Her front foot went forward and I released. After slowing the video down you can see she never stopped eating corn until the arrow hit her. As she jumped I saw blood just pouring out! I heard her go down and she didn't make it 40yds!

So 2 less than perfect shots and 2 ridiculous blood trails hmmm I guess those Rages really do suck
Now here we are on Wed morning. I'm focusing on a narrow heavy framed tall horned buck I busted walking into my feeder. Before shooting light there's a buck in my hand corn but I can't tell much about him. Suddenly he breaks in 2 and runs like hell! What the???? I see what looks to be 3 little pigs coming and and I realize I'm looking at javelina! I'm from E. Tx and have had TC pics on other places but these were the 1st I'd ever seen. I was pretty jacked up and just praying they'd hang around until shooting light. It was borderline too dark and had it been a deer I wouldn't have shot but they were about to walk away. I drew anchored and put the pin where I wanted it and released. All hell broke loose! It squealed, jumped I know 6' and did a full back flip! This one never got out of the corn!

After that it was over to Sterling City to borrow Tubby's washer and dryer He had a slight run in with a corn bandit and handled it quite well!

I hunted hard the next couple of days and saw a ton of deer but nothing more of the shooter. Here's a couple that get a hall pass for a couple of years.

I felt the need to bring a little rain to Schleicer Co so I used an old injun trick!

    It worked
I had a great week now back to E. Tx to see how my hometown bucks are doing!

Sounds like you went on a killing spree nice! I see damage like that with rage and I hear some horror stories so stick with what's working and make some backstrap for dinner
