Our insurance has taken a large leap for no reason, wondering what on average the GS pays that are comparible to our vehicles. We have a 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 with 50,000 miles 2 wheel drive, we also have a 2007 Jeep Patriot with 102,000 miles and is 2 wheel drive, we have had no wrecks or tickets in 20+ years, wife and I are the only drivers, no children. We have full coverage on both with 1000.00 deductable and pay 1725.00 per year on both, feels high to me, how does this compare to yall's, oh this is thru USAA!

I would be looking to change company's. I have a 01 f250 and my wife has an 08 Mariner with 50/100/50 limits and 50/500 deducts and ours is less than 1500 a year. Alot has to do with the vehicles. When I was an agent the Chrysler products tended to be higher symbols therefore higher premiums. Symbols are based on different things but cost of repair is a major factor.

I had the same jump with USAA coming to TX from WI. My credit score is the same as yours, only difference is my wifes vehicle is newer (minivan). I don't want to do the shopping around as the credit rating will go down with each quote. It was explained that the county (Harris) has more drivers with worse insurance and I have a truck that gets stolen alot (05 Dodge Ram 4x4). Not real happy, as what I am paying every 6 months is what I paid yearly in WI while keeping the same $500 deductible and insurance coverage. If you find another place that has similar coverage as USAA, please share!

Usaa just jumped 70 bucks onus for no good reason. No tickets no nothing in 5 years. Called to see what the deal was and best help offered was to adjust premiums to lower rates back...may start shopping. May switch banks to. Sick of only one location to bank at. And no assistance on weekends insurance wise

Hard question to answer w/o knowing a lot more info. Lots of variables used to rate auto insurance. Prior insurance - yes/no? What company? How long? Age of drivers? Credit history? To and from work, used in business, or just pleasure? Garaging address? Year, make, model of vehicle? What coverages? Auto/home insured with same company? Defensive Driving or Driver's Ed past 3 years? Claims? And it goes on and on and on.
I get calls all the time - "my neighbor has insurance with so and so and he pays half what I do!" Well - there could be a thousand reasons.
Call around, get some quotes - but to compare apples to apples, an agent is going to need a lot of info. And keep in mind that price and value are two different things - don't confuse them.

State Farm. "03" F-350 diesel. "08" Toyota Tacoma 4x4. Both full coverage. $1200 per year. $500 deductible. Been with them for 35 years.Last edited by Geezy Rider; 10-06-2011, 05:59 PM.

You can look up and independent agent in your area and have them shop insurance for you. I would suggest a company who is a member of the CAA. They will collect all your info and call all of the companies and find the best coverage for you and your situation. Then you don't have to call all of the companies yourself and repeatedly give the same info over and over. Plus there isn't an additional charge to use an independant agent and it takes alot of the headache away. They are also, typically smaller companies and will be much more personable than dealing with a big insurance company like State Auto, Geico, etc.
Here is a link to the CAA (Combined Agents of America) locater:

You can look up someone in your area.
I hope this helps!
