I planted oats, not the high priced "seed" oats but horse feed type whole oats. They come up just fine
Last year I planted oats in a plot I disced up real good then lightly ran the disc over (disc bareley touching the ground) and broadcast the leftover oats on a spot and then ran the disc over it. Both spots came up just fine, the second spot they were in rows that looked like they had been drilled in with a grain drill
