    Need help with Blue Lacy

I have a 2 year old Lacy that I cannot keep in my yard to save my life. Somehow or another he always finds a way out. I don't want to put him on a chain cause I'm a little particular about my yard, and I don't think a dog should have to live in a kennel, especially a lacy. My question is if I get him fixed will that solve the problem. Every time I find him when he gets out he's never at the same place or with any other dogs, he's just put running. So it's not like there is a female he keeps going to. If I can't fix this problem real soon he'll have to go to a new home. The dog catcher here really has something against us.

My male can jump a 5' fence from a standing start, how tall is your fence?

I have 3 catahoulas that are pretty high energy, and like to run. Everymorning they would leave for about 3 hours, and go on a walkabout. I didnt like it, but there wasnt much I could short of penning them up.

I decided to go with an underground fence. I went with the Sportdog brand, and got it from gundogsupply.com. My yard is 4 acres, and I has a netwire fence with 4 gates including my driveway. I ran the wire about 2' above ground, tied to the netwire. When I got to a gate, I trenched it with edger, and pushed the wire into the ground with a paint mixing stick.

It took very little training to get them inline, and not they never leave. The only draw back is they tear all kinds of stuff up. I guess it's their way op paying me back.

try an underground fence inside of your regular fence.

            strong willed is an understatement......

After putting up the invisible fence, nothing is safe in my yard anymore. Armadillos, snakes, coons, squirrels. You name it, my dogs are killing it, or trying their best to.

This morning making coffe I heard them barking, and looked up to see them chasing a deer that had wandered down my driveway. The dogs slammed onthe brakes about 50' before the invisible wire that crosses under my driveway.

One thing I like about the sportdog brand, is there is a dial to set the stimulation distance away from the wire. I have min maxed out. They start getting buzzed about 8'-10' away from the wire.

Sookie LOVES her kennel here at the house. I live on 10 acres that the fence is not dog friendly so she has been in the kennel since she arrived.

The kennel ain't gonna hurt your dog unless you leave it in there. She gets out twice a day for about 8 hours total. free run on 10 acres and she is whooped after each outing.

Thumbs up on the invisible fence. I just started using one on a couple of my dogs and it works great.

Is he going under or over? My lacy has dug out of my back yard a few times in the low spots. I took some hog panel and cut it in half, set it on the ground and put a cement block on it. More of a temporary solution, but it has worked so far.

Initially I nailed the panels to the fence and pushed them onto the ground. Only thing that did was make her did deeper. That time she ended up two houses down in a neighbors back yard. She went under two fences to get where she was going. Luckily my neighbor was able check her tag and call me. Maybe in the future we will move to where she has a little more room, I think that would help. Then I could get one of the fences set up like y'all are talking about.

                      Petsafe wireless fence.

Tractor Supply carries them or you can find them on ebay or amazon.

I lined the entire bottom perimeter of my back yard with limestone blocks or bricks...burried them about 3/4 of the way in the ground and never had any problems digging out....howerver my lacy could if really wanted to jump over my 6' fence...but lukily has never happened...he does however love to jump and look over the top...
