This was from opening day, but my buddy MarkS took the photos, so I had to wait for him to Email them to me.
This is my first real season hunting here in Texas. Over the summer I put up a feeder and my stand and hoped and prayed. I had a lot of trouble with my feeder and it took four trips to finally get it working. The worst part was I had to foot everything in and out. But it was worth it.
Opening day I got set up by 6:30am. My feeder is set for 7:30am and 6:00pm. At around 7:15am I had 4 bucks coming straight in, 2 of which were shooters. They were still in there bachelor groups and weren't paying any mind to the 8 other does and fawns coming in behind them. However, they were acting very skitish. The does walk straight into the pen and began feeding. I had so many deer around me i had to move in super slowmo. Finally I was drew on the largest buck. However, I had the worst buck fever ever. My pin was bouncing all over from his chest to his ars. I finally was able to settle my pin and let it fly.............right over his back
. Buck 22 yards, dope uses 30yrd pin
.
Had deer moving in and out all around me, but was waiting for the big one to come back. Finally, at 9:54am I gave up and said I better knock some dust off my bow and wacked this doe. Double lung and heart went about 30 yrds and dropped. I guess I'll hold onto my ol '99 PSE Fierflight alittle longer, complete pass through. Hope I've got some of that nervousness out of my system.
