Mooch is correct. I learned to train labs by reading "Water Dog". The most important thing when training Labs is to keep it fun and interesting. Five 10 minute sessions in a day is better than 1 fifty minute session. Always stop your training lesson when the pup is having fun. Getting a dove or teal(which its too late for that now) is a good substitute for the training dummy from time to time.

Any of the book stores in you area should have it. I bought it in 1986 so its been out for a while. You can possibly find it on line as well.

Good luck. I promise you there a few things more rewarding than watching that dog go from a pup to a finely tuned hunting machine and knowing you trained it yourself.

these are in my opinion a trainers bible, richard a wolters makes it simple and step by step. I have personally trained and helped trained over a dozen bird dogs and I follow this book to a "t". you should be able to buy it in any major bookstore, if not you can deffinentally find it online.

smart works, and smart fetch by Evan Graham are the books I use. I have a few buddys that are pro trainers and they swear by his books. It is a great training program and I have an amazing dog because of it.
