    Solid pass through shot...no recovery?

Shot a good buck this AM with my crossbow at 30yds. Deer lurched on snort wheeze from Doe and I think I hit a little far back. I hit him with the Rage 2 heads and heard a good thwack. I listened, and heard him drop out about 60yds, the whole kicking noise etc. I gave him close to 10min and then started that way. Trailed a solid blood trail for about 200yds and lost him. Gave him another hour or so then called in a tracking dog that trailed him for another 1/4 mile. I just dont get it...I mean, clean through him and stuck in the ground with bright red blood. Nothing....guess I will start looking for buzzards.

Done it before. You can either hit a little far back between guts and lung or low below the lungs.

same exact thing happened to me yesterday evenin, straight pass through and looked for 3 hrs and nothing. 30 min after i shot the deer hogs came in, shot a real big boar and straight pass through followed that blood trail as well this mornin and nothing really depressing, i hate that it happened so bad. really makes me sick.

Rage for ya. Had this happen last year complete pass through deer went 20 yards payed up gave it 30 min come back it's gone. Found it a few weeks later it got up went about a half mike and died. Found out then the broadhead didn't open all the way. I will never use them again.

i'm guessing you hit the liver. the deer is most likely dead by now. hope you find it.

10 minutes? If you had waited another 30 min before trailing he would of likely been easier to find.

                Sorry you lost him

Gotta give those liver shots more time ( afew hours) and not push them. Gut shot even longer. I hope you find him. Too bad you didn't, hope you look some more.

Shot a buck 2 years ago thru the liver--he left in a hurry and dived over the edge of the ridge and was out of sight in 50-60 yds. I waited my customary 30 minutes and got down-found the arrow and a good blood trail. Got to the edge of the ridge and he was piled up in a cedar brush pile about 40 yds downslope. He was dead in less than a minute I'd bet. But, each deer is different.

I'd bet it wasn't the Rage broadhead that caused him to lose the deer.
Regardless of head, you have to hit them in the vitals, or a major artery to avoid a long tracking job or loss of animal.
Explain to me how a Rage can fail to open.

I had a liver shot in a doe with a 100 gr Montec; sh ten about 60-75 yds and expired; I didn't trail her for over 1 hr after I shot her. I didn't see much blood but it wasn't necessary when I could see the white of her belly. Good luck.
