Is a high fence ranch more of a responsibility then a low fenced one? What I mean is there more responsibility on the owner to maintain the property/fence, or is it pretty much you put it up and leave it be? I don't mean in the sense of wildlife management, more of just maintaing the fence.

Yes its at least twice as much expense to maintain, if you are in a hog area you will have them trying to open it up all of the time, if not checked regularly anything behind it will be able to come and go, if you dont keep the brush out of it down here in a few years it will push the squares up with brush growth, plus any waterway is always a concern during a huricane or flood as lots wash away no matter how they are constructed, you have to be around to call somebody to come fix the watergaps, usually while the bank is muddy and full of debris, lots of deer fence right of way has poorly cleared stumps and roots left in it to continue growing as soon as the fence is put up, lots of people used to root plow the fenceline to help stop it coming back so quick, lots of ranches buy a maintainer to keep the edge right up to the deerfence clear and even to push up dirt next to it for a birm depending on type of land and whats going under the fence, game or water etc etc, deer gates are always tall and usually sagging so somebody has to adjust the gate hinges all of the time as well, if somebody runs into a gate its not a go get one at Walmart, you have to find one and get somebody to hang it as well, just finding the adjustable hinges on a weekend can be huge much less a complete gate, huaiche grows 3 to 9 feet a year down here so if its in the fence it will be ruined in 10 years if you dont keep the brush out by maintainer or sprayrig or machette',,,,,lots of deer fence is put up on the cheap, wire rusts, posts sag, corners dont hold due to not enuff cement etc etc,
