Is there any Tractor Mechanics around the fire?

The old Massey Fergeson tractor ain't what she used to be!
Having trouble with the hydralic rear lift not staying a set hieght. It slowly drops or raises up when I have the disc, mower or box blade at a adjusted hieght. It will stay up when I have it at the upmost hieght and it is running but will slowly drop when I kill the tractor.
Any idea's on where to start? No, I don't want to buy a new one .

Sounds like you need to replace the seals in your lift. I think that may end up bein a chore.

we have an old 4440 that does this but its got a bad 3point hitch controll allot of the older tractors had this problem. at least its not and electric switch like all our new tractors that crap breaks all the time.

As stated above, it is probably a seal leaking, but when the tractor is off you don't want to leave pressure on your hydraulics. It's just keeping uneeded pressure on the seals.

What model Massey Ferguson? I'd lean more toward the hydraulic pump than the seals in the lift.

MF 261 (1992-1997) 60 HP. Someone said that it might be the draft cylinder, could have trash in it.
