Crazy horse was not that crazy?

"We did not ask you white men to come here. The Great Spirit gave us this country as a home. You had yours. We did not interfere with you. The Great Spirit gave us plenty of land to live on, and buffalo, deer, antelope and other game. But you have come here, you are taking my land from me, you are killing off our game, so it is hard for us to live.

Now, you tell us to work for a living, but the Great Spirit did not make us to work, but to live by hunting. You white men can work if you want to. We do not interfere with you, and again you say why do you not become civilized? We do not want your civilization! We would live as our fathers did, and their fathers before them."

That's pretty cool. Sometimes I think our nation would be better off if we shed the trappings of modern civilization (i.e. big homes, big cars, big tvs) and went back to a simpler way of life. I sure would miss hot water and toilets though.

The Indians that were here when the Europeans got here did the EXACT same thing we did to them to each other (did that make sense?). They were very violent and were at war with each other constantly. When one tribe conquered another they killed all the men and enslaved the women and children. Oh yeah, they took their land and killed their game, too.

Life is hard and only the strong survive. We were stronger. We won. Get over it.

WOW is all I can say. Did not see that coming. I think some of you missed the point of that story by a long shot!

With this story I am going to keep my mouth shut and feed the good wolf.

An elderly Cherokee Native American was teaching his grandchildren about life...

He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me, it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.

One wolf is evil -- he is fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, competition, superiority, and ego.

The other is good---he is joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.

This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too."

They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied: "The one you feed".

Well you are correct, actually plains indian warfare was much more brutal that what we ever did to the indians. But their perspective was much different than ours. In their perspective total defeat of their enemy ensured them to be able to continue to live.

Our was not about a continuance of life but a continuance of prosper.

We would do ourselves well to reflect back on ho we defeated the enemy. Sure there was military force, but truth be known the Indians, Comanches to be exact won more battles than they lost. We simply won by virtue of wave after wave of new settlers who by the process of settling dwindled the native land for farm land, and pushed out the buffalo herds.

Our neighbors to the south are doing the same thing to America as they migrate across the Rio.....

                          Just food for thought.

                              Semantics.

But you make some really good points. It still comes down to natural selection...only the strong survive...and there's strength in numbers.
