I have been asking my wife to go to the lease with me for a couple of years now. She went out one time in the Spring just to ride around in the Ranger. Well I asked her again the other day and she said she will come up after my sons last football game on opening day of rifle season. Then she said "I think I might want to shoot something". I couldn't believe it. I about fell over. Now I get to take her shopping for her own rifle and get her to the range to practice!!

So this will be my first year hunting with my 13 year old son. (he's never been interested until earlier this year). I will be taking my 5 year old son out for his first hunt (just to sit int he stand). And I will get to spend time in the stand with my wife. It doesn't get any better than this.

Ok, I will be Debbie Downer.....

I thought, I wanted my wife to go with me. Got her into dove 1st, then teal, then spring turkey, then deer.

She started going on my hunts with me. That's when I realizes how prescious those moments alone at the lease were. It was my time to reflect, enjoy a bit of solitude, and decompress. I was no longer getting those moments, and I needed them.

Nevermind the constant complaining about the beds at camp, the cabin was too hot, she was too cold, the chairs in the blind weren't comfortable enough, on and on and on........

Make sure the rifle you buy her is one you want...just in case after she shoots she decides she does not like killing things.

I asked my little girl if she wanted to shoot one.. She said no way... But she sure as heck said I better kill a few because she wants to eat them!
