Started off as I do every weekend, driving back home to Beaumont from work in Crockett. Got home and immediately drove down to our property in High Island and set 2 gator lines. Wasn't too enthused about what we might catch because I had only seen a couple six footers while setting out the lines. We go back Saturday and this time I have my uncle and his son with me as I told him Chris (10 years old) could shoot a gator if we had one on the line. We make it out there check both the lines and nada. They have both been pulled down but no gators on either. I went to move one of the lines to where I had seen a 7.5 footer driving in. This particular spot is right next to my neighbors duck camp and he and his dad just happened to be there when we pulled up. My neighbor came down and asked if I was setting gator lines, I said yes, and he asked if I would set one in his pond because he had a "pretty big one" in there that he wanted out, and I more than agreed to catch it for him. Lines were moved and it was just time to wait. Sunday couldn't come fast enough, and then I got a call from my neighbor saying that we had a smaller gator on one of the lines in his pond, oh well at least we had a gator on the line. Well we get down there, my uncle hands my cousin the .22 and we walk down to the line, and I quickly realize that it is not the smaller gator, but it is actually the bigger one. After a couple quick shots of the .22 my cousin has his first gator and a dandy of one 2. Taped out at 9'3".
Well we got the paper work filled out and my Uncle and cousin went to the processor in Anahuac, as I had to go set 2 stands on a piece of property for this upcoming weekend. Well I had to get some of the papers from my uncle that he got from the processor to turn into TPWD. Well he ran by my house thanked me and told me how excited my cousin was, he also told me he had gotten me something to thank me and had left it inside with my mom. Well I get the papers and go inside and my mom says that my uncle got me a briefcase? Well turn out that what was inside the "briefcase" was even better.

Couldn't really ask for a better thank you gift, pretty pleasant surprise as I wasn't expecting anything in the first place.
