The landowner of our lease called me a couple of nights ago. He hemmed and hawed a bit and finally said he had something he wanted to talk about concerning the me and hunting the ranch. He recently got a load of hay and had some guys helping him with it. One of the young men really caught his attention, the kind of guy you immediately take a liking to.
As it turns out the guy is a veteran...tours in Afganistan and Iraq, smart, personable, etc. Then the landowner started to well, um, you know, etc. and finally said the guy had a family, was trying to get himself established, is an avid bowhunter but can't afford a lease..."So I know I am completely crossing the line asking this but is there anyway you would let him hunt your stand for a doe? He just wants one doe for his family"
I COULD NOT believe the way he had just asked me that!!!!! Hemming and hawing. Without hesitation I told him it would be a privaledge, he could hunt my best stand, over my feeder, I will clean it for him and pay to have it processed! He can even stay with me in my camper!
Getting the opportunity to help a guy hunt who risked his life defending my freedom...WOW, I can't wait for that hunt!!!
