When the new camo tent blinds came out.....the name stuck.

They were never called tent stands (camo blinds)....the reason being....a stand was a spin off of those old nailed up tree stands we all used to build, climb the tree, inch over that board to park the butt....no safety harness to hunt whitetail up high. The ground stands...were simply box stands and or wood piled up circling a hole in the ground with hunter sitting down low within. Then these new CAMO TENTS CAME OUT and they were instantly called DEER BLINDS. As hunting moved forward....and these new easy to toss together blinds matured in design, style and simplicity...deer stands and hunting gear hit a new level...a lot of our old school hunting lingo was compounded with this new high tech new stuff.

I still sit and smile thinking about then and now. We hunted back then...now....it's all high tech LOL!

That's how I remember it and I'm sticking to it! LOL!

            Yup ^^^^

My dad used to get so mad a the when I'd ask if we're hunting out of the "duck stand" when we'd go duck hunting. He was VERY quick to correct me. "It's duck BLIND, son".

Bass Fishing.....I can't figure out why they have so many names for a simple plastic worm or slug type bait?!?!?!

Talk about lingo changes.....I can't keep up with all the new words for old ideas..used in salt and freshwater fishing lures. I suppose Marketing and New Ideas help make Sales...or we are getting so darn old....we can string together literally decades worth of changes only to realize...it's all the same...with a little different name...and a new lable on the new toy box warning users WARNING CAUSES CANCER IN CALIFORNIA BABIES!

Same here. I never heard of a "deer blind" until I got on this site. They're deer STANDS!

                    deer blind?

I never used that term either. In East Texas you either hunted in a tree or ground blind or at night with a light?
