I'm up for another planned trip...too tight to make it this year but next year...I can plan!

I hunted the Olympics...along the Hood Canal side from Dosewallops north to Quilcene chasing blacktail and avoiding black bear LOL! Had a big old boar black bear slither right by me at less than 30 yards as I still hunted (whitetail tactic - sit and wait) for blacktail. Could have killed a darn good blackbear....mature and huge but.....I just wasn't into it. Rain.....cold and a weeknight with the sun probably sitting in it's last hour before set. Then the hike back to the truck.....along an old overgrown logging road......made it kind of interesting in the dark LOL! Had to work the next day....still think about making the decision...I had a bear tag but logistics with an animal that size....probably would have killed me just trying to get him out of there....nothing is a straight line nor flat as a pancake LOL!

Also hunted the Okanogan National Forest....several times! Finally nailed a 14 point mule deer (non-typical) that the biologists stated weighed 360lbs and aged 7 years old. We managed to get up into PARACHUTE MEADOW before other campers got there for the weekend opener. Good thing I drove up 2 days before deer season....stuck it out in 1 ft of snow waiting for my hunting buddies to show. Got down to minus 2 degrees at night.....I slept in my truck till we got together to put up the wall tent. Mind you.....I had arctic sleeping gear and I remember waking up the next morning....grabbed my water bottle I sipped on the night before....frozen solid as a rock inside the truck LOL!

          Good times and awesome country!

I've tried to get a few from here to go up there with me.....my oldest step son lives and works in Seattle. He has a 4x4 Chevy truck...I'm set if I can get there! Just need to plan this a bit further out and I can swing it!
