    Lampasas hunters and hogs?

We have had our lease in Lampasas for a little over 24 years and have only seen 3 pigs and all three have died. These three pigs have been in the past two seasons and all three were boars. I hear people talkin all the time about all the hogs they have around there place down there but we havent had really any to speak of. Just curious about others that hunt in Lampasas and their hog situation. Im not complaining at all about not having them just think its wierd that we dont really have any

More abundant food sources elsewhere I would guess. How are your deer numbers compared to the rest of Lampasas?

Wish I could say the same. We have tons of them on our place. caught 6 in the trap about a month back that we got rid of. It's never ending for us. I can say it's typically never a dull deer season though, when there are no deer there are plenty of pigs.

We always have seen plenty of deer ! We have tons of live oaks on our place so the acorn crop is always big and there is lots of browse plus we usually have a couple of small oat fields and our feeders

We couldn't plant this year, no water at all obviously. I didn't see a whole lot of acorns this year either though! Do you have a lot on the ground right now?

Thats the only plus to having them is it gives you more targets! I wanna hunt pigs with my bow real bad but we dont have any and I dont have anywhere to go other than our lease anymore

we used to have them thick. then, oddly enough , when a high fence went up near by, we havent seen any but one lone boar. and a few feeders went missing. its been probably 3-4 seasons since anyone has seen a pig except that one random boar on game cam

It wont be pretty. so just be ready for that. Our place might as well been in a fire the way everything had dried up. The only good thing is that the grass is all bedded down so you can see every game trail and the blood trails should be easy to find.

We have a high fence property that is on one side of us and it is kind of inbetween us and the river. But another thing is that our landowner has about ten acres of river property about a quarter mile from our lease that we have free run on and I have never seen hogs or even sign of them over there.

Yeah Im kinda scared to see it! Our landowner has a few water troughs that are on the place so luckily the deer have had a water source

I live just north of town, the Little Lucy Creek runs through our back pasture we have had our place since 1994 and have never seen a pig. Many folks nearby, as close as 3 miles as the crow flies have seen them, fortunately we haven't. Really expected this year with the drought to see some moving down the creek looking for water. But so far so good and I hope it stays that way

I have talked to numerous people at walmart and the feedstore complaining about the pigs and one of them only hunts 2 0r 3 miles from us and he said they were covered up in them. If im not mistaken sulphur creek is the one that runs past us and I have never seen it dry before so you would think they would travel it

I hunt just north of town, little lucy creek runs through our place as well. A couple of the guys have been on the lease 10 years. Never seen a hog or sign of a hog. I hear the same thing about hogs just a few mile north of us. There was a hog hit by a car last spring in that area as well.
