so..thunder wakes me up at 2am..

..and my first thought was.. 'naaaaaaah, couldnt be thunder..we're in a drought'
Someone must be trying to break in to the shed and is banging on the rollup garage door.
So up a I jump, grab the pistola off the night stand, whistle for the catahoula, who apparently either doesn't like thunder, or people banging on garage doors, - or was just smarter than me and went back to sleep...
I go to the farthest kitchen window and open the 2" blind slat just enough to make out that - I can't see anything - because theres water all over the window, and, as it is most mornings at 2am..it's dark.

I figure the attempting-burglars must have somehow disabled the halogen outdoor light on the shed's roof (about 20' up)..and that's why it didn't come on with their motion..

I decide I'll flip the outside light by the back door.. and see if I can get a glimpse of someone and a direction of fire..

Just as I'm about to flip the switch up..the entire night turned to day.. and everything became clear for a few seconds... no burglars..shed still down...and my catahoula is smarter than me.
    And the thunder rolled...
    Went back to bed..

Woke me up in waco at 1230 am.Lighting struck a pole just outside the house followed by an explosion and power out.I was extremely impressed with TXU response time and it only took them 45 min to have it back on after reporting a power outage.

Squeeked out an inch of rain out at the ranch and dropped the temp 15°

We got an 1 3/4 in. of rain in Hewitt. Some areas around Waco are reporting up to 3 in. It's about time we got a good rain. Now just keep the rain coming!
