Got a phone call last night from a cousin in Oklahoma. It was the kind of phone call that at first you perceive to be about just general chit chat, but a little ways through the conversation you are told something about a loved one that you don't want to hear. My aunt, who lives alone near McAlester has been having seizures and memory loss. Her heart has been an issue for a while, but after a cat scan, she has been told of a large mass on the left side of her brain.
My cousin (my aunt's daughter) has been a nurse for many years and said that her mom is in denial about the seriousness of this medical diagnosis. It was of course hard to hear this bad news, but I stayed up late last night praying for my aunt and her sons and daughter. I now know why I had a strange dream the night before in my sleep. Things in that dream are beginning to make sense.
If anyone familiar with the Kiowa, Oklahoma area remembers a boot and saddle shop in what is left of the old downtown area, my uncle who is now deceased, owned and operated that business and was married to the aunt I am referring to.
My aunt used to be heavily involoved in a community outreach operation that my parents started in the 1980's. We would meet on every Saturday at Kiowa and distribute food and clothing to the needy. She managed the clothing part and we all used to have fun with the fact that the clothing was stored in the old city jail house. I think we locked her up a few times.
Thanks in advance for your prayers.
