I'd rather not think about that...

        I'll shoot you a PM.

out of respect for Tommy , I'll let him disclose how much he has invested should he choose to share

here are the ball park figures since I've built and consulted on custom rifles

          donor action - 400
          true/blueprint recvr - 150 (optional)
barrel blank - 350 or more depending on options (fluting)
          HS Precision stock - 200
          ...or...
          McM stock - 450
          bedding job - 150
cut, chamber, crown barrel - 200
          jewell trigger - 200
bottom metal - varies depending on brand : ADL = free , as BDL with detach mags cost from 50 to 350
          rings/bases - 50 to 175
optics - whatever you wanna spend

Hahaha! That's kind of what I figured, man. That is an awesome rifle and an awesome caliber, so it's gotta be worth whatever a guy's willing to shell out to get it just right.

Enjoy it and shoot the heavy stuff. A friend of mine has one in that caliber, shoots the heavier bullets, and it's "lights out" when he hits them anywhere. He shot a deer last year that was running full-out, hit him just in front of the flank (behind the liver), and he rolled arse-over-teakettle and died about five times before stopping.

Beautiful bang stick and a smoking round.

                Nice!

What made you choose 257 Weatherby?

I used to have one in a Vanguard Sub MOA, and am pretty familiar with the ballistics, which I really like. I know there are more efficient or flatter rounds, but the familiarity kept bringing me back to this.

Did you use the .308 mag's to run .257 through? Did you have any issues with them?
