Anybody ever hunt here? Just looking for good or bad, have a buddy thinking bout going down for three days during the peak of the rut, round christmas time.

Heard it's a good place and they change their rules to any 8 pt is legal instead of 3 1/2. I was thinking of going. -
I have hunted there almost every year since they opened. The buck in my avatar is from there. The rules have changed, You still have to shoot a 3.5 yo or older, however they have added another buck. That buck has only got to be an 8 point. Any 8 point in any combination. So you get two bucks and a doe.
The deer there are very weill educated. They get 20 hunters a day (when full) for an entire season. They have seen just about everything. If you are a sloppy hunter, you will not have much success. However if you hunt smart and work hard, there are some great deer there. I have no idea what the drought has done to the deer down there.
Mike and Nancy are great people. But this is a self serve hunt. If you want a full service hunt this is not it.Comment

Hard hunting but I was there for 5 days last season and I think I counted five 8 pointers coming in.
Been there every year for four years but might have to miss it this year. I've seen some pretty good deer but haven't taken a shot.
Shy deer and hard hunting but I like it.Comment

I went there a few years back. Saw a decent amount of deer but nothing over 125" and i just wasn't interested in shooting something that size and less than 5.5. If you go bring multiple set ups and take the time and scout for the first day and a half if possible..and brush your set ups very well. good luck. Good place, good price, but as stated above the deer are well educated. I will be down there second weekend in Oct for a hunt with my son. I will give a report when I get back. If you are a good hunter, and work hard you have a real chance at shooting a big deer here.Comment
