Yes, the u-joints can be held in with u-bolts, circlips or similar rentention means.
I am a believer in the Warn hubs, the Superwinch are nearly as good. The Mile Marker and others are OK, but not nearly as good quality.
I change my diff fluid in my daily driver every 30-50k. I would change the diff fluid and transfer case fluid after every other trip in my rock crawler (1976 Bronco).
You made a good choice in the blue oval. It is a solid truck, and will last for years if you keep up the good work, and stick with your maintenance.

I agree with gummi bear get rid of the auto locker and replace them with some warn hubs. If you cant isolate the squeek start pulling the drive shafts and going through the u-joints check the end caps to see if any rust is coming out of them. Check axle seals too if you see any oil you may have an axle bearing that is squeeking. If there is a center suport bearing check that too (on the drive shaft). Good luck.
