    Enclosure for a tripod?

Has anyone ever come up with a D.I.Y. enclosure for a tripod that works? I normally only use a tripod when I can push it back in some live oaks or cedars for coverage, but this year I have a spot where I'd like to be up in the air but there are only mesquites. (which will soon be leafless, leaving me exposed.) Years ago I built a camo covered frame out of PVC that attached to the tripod platform but it did not hold up in the wind and flapped around a lot. You also have to make it very big in front to have drawing room. I may just give upon the idea and hunt from a ground blind, but a tripod in this spot would be a big advantage. Any ideas?

Ive got one in the diy, search "tripod pod".

Jerry Black built a really nice ne that he puts a double bull on, also.

Ive always wanted to build one out of those big patio umbrellas... just sew on long pieces of camo fabric all the way around and then Use a hoola hoop at the bottom to hold it all down... then you just anchor to your tripod and shoot through the slats.

Just a theory but given the time and materials I'd like to make one!

Dale I had forgotten about that project of yours ( kind of embarrasing really, I even responded to that thread! I must have cleared my mental hard drive of all posts that far back) Looks like a great set up. Now I need to call in a favor from by neighbor who can weld.

I saw these at the TTHA show. I haven't found a price for them yet. Website still says "available soon". If they're reasonably priced, I plan on getting one next year.

In that situation I will tie streamers to the tripod chair, back, foot ring, etc. that wave around and flap all the time. The deer get used to movement there and aren't near as likely to bust you when you are in the stand.

I bought 3 fake Christmas trees last year at a resale shop for 10 bucks. I am putting them around a tripod and a ladder stand. No pics yet but you can bend the limbs to any position and creat shooting holes and they look kinda natural. they were 3 different types/colors so I am mixing them up on the stands.

I used a piece of hog panel and some "U" bolts connected to the expanded metal floor. Set so it flaired at the top and back for draw room, and cover in camo netting...........

We did the Same thing as Chuck. My bother and I used a hog panel for the roof and tied it down with bailing wire. Then we looped a hog panel around the front to cover the fron of the stand and the sides. Then we covered it in black astroturf and then camo netting. It has worked really well in the past.

Hey Dale, I'm hitting the DYI for tripod builds and came across this from 2011. I'm looking for your post on a tripod build. I couldn't find by searching DIY, Tripod, DM Do you happen to have a link to it? Or, a picture. Thanks in advance.

John, I bought a handful of these electric fence posts, wired/ziptied them at an outward angle around the base of my tripod, then strung wire and hung camo cloth around it. It is not high enough to hide all of your head/shoulders at a distance, but it hides hand/arm/leg movement, and it does hide almost all of you when they come in at a short distance.

Step-in temporary line post ideal for strip-grazing cattle and sheep. Optional snap-on PigTail Clips allow use of extra conductors.

I got mine at Atwwods or tractor supply and painted them black. They are plastic or fiberglass there.

I have also hung branches in the leafless limbs behind me in the mequites and thrown camo on them. Anything to block you outline.

I actually built one years ago that attached to the seat swivel so that my shooting window swiveled as I did. Worked OK, but deer catch ANY kind of movement, so I had to move real slow.
