Started the weekend with a BANG...

Due to a scheduling issue, I was not going to leave for the lease until o-dark-thirty with Mason on Saturday. However, Eric (my brother) and Richard were meeting at my house and departing this morning. They had been gone about 15 minutes when I received a call from Eric, “Come and get us, we have been in a wreck.” A lady ran a red light and Richard t-boned her and spun her around. Needless to say, Richard won and this has put a “delay” in this weekend’s festivities. Richard is currently arranging a rental truck so he can make the evening hunt.

Here are some pics of Richard’s truck…

Tell him to get rid of that sissy bull bar and get a real bumper on there.

If he had on of these on there he wouldn't have been delayed getting to the lease.

If he had one of those he probably would have been ticketed for hit and run.......cause he would not even notice the little "Bump" when he stopped her from her efforts to flee a red light!

              Glad he's all right...

However, I'd like to see more pictures of the lady who is getting in the Tahoe to better assess the situation.

The lady was an older lady and not all that. I spoke with the woman's insurance company yesterday and they are going to take care of everything on my truck and the rental truck. At first they were going to have to wait and look at the scene and the vehicles and then wait on the police report, because she was claiming that she had a green light. I was very lucky that I had two witnesses, one across from the accident that was at the turning lane waiting at the red light and one that was to the left of me a little behind me that almost hit her too. I will continue the story from the weekend in another post today with pictures...the weekend ended with a "DOUBLE BANG"...two doe down.....

Good to hear that no one was hurt. I do not know how many time I see people run red lights in Kingwood. I guess they think since they drive $50,000-60,000 cars other people will stop for them. That is why I built this.

I know you guys are proud of your big bumpers and all but I am sure you realize that with the right hit you can do far more damage to your truck than with stock bumpers,etc... A hard enough hit you will bend your frame and the effects will ripple all the way through the rear. Could turn a couple grand of body work into a frame machine stretch job/total loss.

...but I still wouldnt mind having one of those on my superduty

I like how that OLDER slid off your keystroke so easily. We must be talking about Doncom or Berandel age, right?

....And the weekend ended with a "DOUBLE BANG".....

After a "Small" set back on the departure of the beginning of a hunting weekend...accident at 9:40am...transfer of hunting equipment from broken truck to carrier truck at 11:40am...

...transfer of hunting equipment from carrier truck to rental truck at 2:00pm...(Didn't get a picture of the rental)we finally hit the road for the 2 hour drive to east Texas.

I couldn't get the 4-wheeler and everything else in the rental truck so when we got to the lease we basically pulled the rental truck into where we would normally park the 4-wheelers for the area we were going to hunt and got dressed and hit the stand.
That evening hunt turn out to be a sit there and reflect on the days events and watching some really pretty birds type hunt.
Kevin(Shankev) finally rolled in to camp about midnight and by that time Eric(Kevin's brother) and I had plenty of beverages and were eager to help him unload and sit by the fire and visit.

                              Saturday:
Saturday morning turned out to be a no sighting of animals for any of us. We came back to camp and did the usual of breakfast and then getting fishing stuff together and doing some fishing. (So Kevin how big was that fish)
Saturday evening was another no animal sighting for myself and Eric, but Kevin and his son mason seen a Doe. Poor Mason was so nervous that he rushed the shot and missed the deer. This would have been his first deer. He has plenty of hogs under his belt, but no deer. That's ok, buddy that is why they call it hunting....
Here are some pictures from Saturday nights festivities...

                              Then there was Sunday....
After a great nights sleep we awoke to some early morning fog and I decided that I was going to head over to the far side of the property to what we call the third gate. At 6:43 am this what the feeder looked like...

I was glad to be able to take some meat home, considering I am helping feed several house holds and this really does help.

Nobody else seen anything , but did hear the hogs, but they just were not where they were hunting.

After some cleaning of the animals we decided to have a little target practice...

I think Mason really liked my gun...

Besides the mishap with the truck on Friday it truly was a fun weekend with friends and the great outdoors.....
