    Broken Chippewa zippers....looking for a

....respectable boot repair person to replace the zipper in my Chippewas in the DFW area.

I was told the stock ones wouldn't last long and sure enough a year in they are shot. Has anybody had their snakeboot zippers replaced and if you don't mind saying how much did it run you?

I was quoted $80 by a place that replaced the soles on another pair of hunting boots. I thought that was a little steep.

They have velcro as a second support for the zipper. The staying power isn't quite as good solo..

My Justins are 8 years old...no zipper.

Does it necessarily have to be a boot repair place since it is a zipper?

I have to have a zipper to get them on Billy with my arch. It does not have to be a boot repair place as long as they could get the job done right.

Not sure on the repair but do those boots have plenty of calf room? I thied some (another brand) on the other day and they didn't even begin to zip up.
The do now because they were custom built for my calves. I was told by several folks that the Chippewa zipper aren't very durable and they will have to be repaired after a few years. These are splitting down near the ankle.

I wouldn't think they would have the ability to sew through thicker leather.....but its worth a shot.

You might try an upholstery shop, Jason. I had one restitch a couple of zippers on my CJ7 soft top a few years ago.

What about a saddle maker smart??? They have the sewing machine to sew through the leather...

Jason, Go to Weldon's western wear off of Bell/Oak. Ask Weldon if maybe one of his saddle makers could help you out. I think they do that there. Also, it might be a long shot, but North Texas Awnings on 380@35 might be able to sew zippers into heavier material.
