    flex test your arrows!!!

    Flex test your arrows please!

scared me a bit this evenning while shooting. Shot a few dozen arrows, and then switched to the top left target on my redhead target...

shot a few of my group of 8, and then WHAM and all sorts of crashing and I could see the white end of the arrow go about 2 ft to the right of the target!!!

I was shooting at 20 yards, and grouping in a small pie plate (not looking for perfection just building stamina back up. havent shot much lately)...

I walk down, and find the back 3 inches of the arrow!

WHERE IS THE REST! I am shooting next to my house in a subdivision. Now I know no one is out or around or I wouldnt be shooting, but still concerned where the rest of the arrow is... Found it in the back yard on the other side of my privacy fence!!!

    could have been bad!

Scares me everytime I see this! I shoot those Academy game tamers (the older ones without the camo) and have 9 left of 12 that I bought about 7 years ago now!

None of them have even done that!

I try to flex em every time but sometimes I forget... good reminder!

That's the risk on GW arrows.. They don't even post the spine on those shafts. Glad y'all are OK

I will probably be picking up some ics beman's this week. Think academy has a deal on em.

I bought a dozen to use on hogs--and they won't fly for beans with field points out of my hoyt or my mathews--. I'll carry one with me to the stand for a squirrel, armadillo, or 'coon.

Glad it didn't go in your arm. I don't flex my fmjs until after each session. I dont shoot groups though so somewhat smaller risk

That is what I ended up buying the other week at Bass Pro, Beman V Brake . Got a dozen for 65 bucks or something like that with 20 percent military discount.

I threw a CE Maxima in the trash the other day. It chipped when I was shooting a group, so I snapped it. I wouldn't have given it another thought, but it threw a vane when it hit the target.

It has reminded me to check my arrows again every time. Having one go through my hand scares the crud out of me.

That happened to me last year at the deer lease - way away from any kind of medical attention. DoublePlay543 and TX_Phil and I were shooting some arrows at the end of the evening and having a little fun when one of my arrows exploded. I had a few small cuts on the top of my hand, but nothing major, made a loud pop and shards of arrow went everywhere. I flexed one of the other arrows I had and it snapped right off at the fletching.

At 340 fps it's pretty scary. To heck with those speed arrows, I went to a heavy shaft in an FMJ and I probably won't have to worry about that too much, but I will flex them after I pull them. Just a good habit to get into. It will sure get your attention when one explodes on you.
