    Dove with steel shot

I'm headed up to a Federal NWR next week and have some time to do some dove hunting. Problem is, only steel shot is allowed. What shot size/choke should I use for dove with steel, and any hints on modifing my normal shot?

I'd rather shoot my 16 gauge, I also know that 20 gauge or 12 gauge will be easier to find/and less costly. I could also reload some 16's.

    Thanks in advance.

if you can find some steel/non tox 7's and shoot it out of IC or skeet chokes you should be ok...only bad thing is when you hit them, it may tear them in half

Do they make you shoot steel? Wow that could be expensive.

Yep, steel only. And for expense, not more than a box, save the rest for a trip to McDonalds afterwards since I have no dove to cook.

The steel dove loads are a dollar or two more a box. They work just fine. My bro actually prefers steel over lead for doves.

As others have said they have had dove loads in steel for a while now. I've never shot them, but my buddy has and they seemed to work fine. They are smoking fast also!!!

Thanks, I'll check at Acadamy this afternoon. I've never seen steel dove loads, never have looked for them.
