    $5 gas in CA

I filled-up for $3.24 yesterday (reg) but some places are charging $5/gallon for regular.

I'm parking my Dodge RAM (13 mpg) in the driveway during the week and driving an old Volvo wagon (25+ mpg) as a commuter car we have 'left-over' from when the kids were in high school. Save the truck for hunting on the weekends.

I hate to say it, but I'm sick of paying that much $ in the monthly budget for gas, and watching Exxon Mobile posting record profits, and paying their execs hundreds of millions of dollars in performance bonuses.

To show how "manipulated" the price of gas at the pump is, with a presidential election coming up I'm paying less per gallon now when oil is $98/barrel than I did last year when it was around $60/barrel. Supply and demand my arse.

It's going to get a lot worse, before it gets better in my opinion. Pakistan's military government is falling, Isreal is ready to bomb the Iranian nuclear plants, and all Iran has to do is send a submarine into the gulf and sink a couple oil tankers, and $100 oil will be history.

It sucks because while I work in the Oil & Gas industry its Job Security (for now) but everyone is making money hand over fist and my salary and benifits stay pretty much the same, but my work load has increased 10 fold.

This is absurd - from what I can tell there is no real difference in the supply/demand for oil/gas than there was in 2000/2001 when gas was 1.20 gal. It's theft and nothing we can really do about it - but it gets very old hearing about record setting profits every **** quarter as gas prices continue to rise. Supple/Demand my arse!

Every one i know in the oil business is making millions. I know two guys that have now opened their own banks! We're not talking couple of hundreds a day we're talking a million or more per day. It is insane! I wish i had just one well pumping a measly 10 barrells a day.

But i dont know what is higher gas or health insurance. This krap is out of control!

What sounds crazy here is you only paid $0.20 more for gas than me and you live in California!

The Independent Oil Companies (IOC) don't have access to enough of the reserves, nor do they produce a large enough percentage to control the prices. National oil companies (NOC), specifically the OPEC ones, control the worlds oil. See first attachment.

The demand is coming from developing countries. See second attachment. OECD

What area in TX doesn't have humidity and bugs and has high tech jobs?

San Clemente should not be a problem, the $5 was at Big Sur, which is in the middle of nowhere on the Pacific Coast (beautiful, in part because it's the middle of nowhere).

As much as I hate to see big brother involved in anything, I believe it is time for the government to step in. The oil/gas companies are not reporting record sales, they are reporting record profits. This is similiar to price fixing that goes on during natural disasters when ice goes to $7.00 for 10#. The economy is fixin' to take a down turn. I also am betting that I am going to be able to buy me a good used diesel P/U on the cheap pretty soon. I don't know how the guys driving them are affording to fill them up.

I agree, it is price fixing, it's just not the Independent Oil Companies that are doing it. Our government getting involved would have nothing to do with the IOCs, it would be Iraq. Look again at the first attachment in my previous post. The chart on the left shows proven reserves, and the chart on the right shows production. Look at Iran's two columns in particular.

The national oil companies in the middle east have no interest in getting their oil out of the ground as fast as possible. They don't need any more money now, and would like to be able to continue to sell oil well into the future.

Paid $3.45 this A.M. for Aviation gas in northwest Texas. It will cost you $5.00 or more in some of the airport in the Dallas area. I flew to Mesquite today, but didn't buy any of their higher fuel.
Mesquite airports fuel is not that high yet.

I saw diesel higher than your aviation fuel this past week! What crying shame!
