    Calling all Bowtech Shooters

Ok everyone, be honest. Tell me about your set ups.

Draw length, draw weight, arrow weight and speed.

The reason I am asking is I know a guy who is thinking about buying a Bowtech. He has a 28 inch draw and will be shooting 70 pounds with a 400 grain arrow. He is worried that he will not have the speed to have much kinetic energy.

Can anyone shed a little light on the subject for me, I know nothing about Bowtech.

    Thanks for your help.

    Allegiance

29.5 inch draw. 62 lbs. 370 grain Maximas. 295 fps. Blow through virtually everything I shoot and I shoot mechs. Best shooting bow I've owned since the High Country Safari of about 12 to 15 years ago.

Can't help with that draw length, but here is what I have:

      2006 Tribute
      30" draw
      70#s
      390 Grain arrow
      310fps

      Back-up
      2005 Allegiance
      30" draw
      70#s
      390 Grain arrow
      299fps

I love em both, but the Tribute is my favorite.

        Here are my setups

Bowtech BlackKnightII (2002 model) 64 pounds, 28 inch draw, 370 grain total arrow weight, traveling 302fps. Complete pass throughs on 2 whitetails with 4 blade, 1 3/4" expandable heads and buried the arrow 6-8 inches in the ground on the other side. Also complete pass through on hard quartering away fallow with muzzy 100 grain 4 blade that broke the opposite shoulder - never found that arrow but the fallow went 60 yards (the one in my avatar).

BlackKnight(2005) 70 pounds, 28 inch draw, 530 grain total arrow weight (aluminums), traveling ? It had plenty of kinetic energy to pass through and drop a ram and a goat on a recent hunting trip and still bury the arrow in the ground. I don't shoot it as well as my 02 model so I haven't shot a whitetail with it yet. If the arrow weight was around the 5 grains per pound, it should shoot in the 328 range. The birth certificate said 333 but I shortened the draw length a half inch.

I love the speed and accuracy of the bowtechs. I also have a Pro 40 that I use for indoor target shooting. I keep telling myself that one of these days I'll take it out for whitetails but haven't yet. Not sure how the 4X sight would work and if the deer would stand still long enough for me to dial in the sureloc sight.

My setups are in the signature. That's the beauty of the Bowtech bows. Shorter draw length archers can still have plenty of speed. Whatever model he is looking at subtract 10fps for each inch of draw length less than 30". Any particular model he is looking at?

              05 Allegiance

29 in draw at 70 pounds
Not sure of total weight of arrow and BH(never cared about it ) but they are GT pros with 100gr, 4 blade muzzy and shooting 290. This thing blows through 150# pigs all day long. Hope this helps. Ofcorse any new bow these days is going to be a spanking fast bow. Good luck with what ever you choose.!

Tomkat, perfect starter bow for me! Only one at the time I could find that went to 32 inch draw. That's right 32 inch draw, 64 lbs., express maxima 350, friggin fast. Never had the speed checked. Who does that? The pro shop?

I shoot a VFT Extreme at 27.75", 62# and my arrows are 3000 series Vapors with 75 grain Mechanicals. I never maxed the bow out to the 70-73# as I was chonographing 286 which is plenty fast for me. I have no idea of the KE but I shoot through everything. Keep in mind, speed does not kill, shot placement does.

I will say that this bow is much faster than my previous bows (Mathews) and thusly allows me to use one pin out to 30 yards.
